--The binoculars were not in their place and they didn't use them.
--From the bridge of the Titanic, a ship's lights were observed not far away, posssibly the Californian. So the Titanic launched some rockets, but the ship never answered.
--They wanted to make a good time, so they were going too fast for the size of the ship.
--They tried to avoid the iceberg. If they would have hit it head on, maybe little or no damage would have been done.
--The Titanic had 16 "watertight" compartments. If 4 of them got water, it would probably sink. There compartments did not go all the way to the top of the ship. So when the water filled one compartment, it would spill over into the next compartment.
