Swimming Bath

The Swimming Bath was located on the starboard side of the F Deck, just forward of the Turkish Bath(a type of sauna). The bath itself extended down to G Deck. See the diagram below.

The Swimming Bath was small, and reserved for First Class passengers. The bath were reserved for women from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. and for the men from 2 P.M. until 6 P.M. Tickets were available from the Inquiry Office(C Deck) for $1.00 or 4 shillings. The Swimming Bath was also open for male First Class passengers for free from 6 to 9 P.M.

The heated salt water bath was six feet deep. Colonel Gracie used the pool the morning of the collision, and noted that,"In no swimming bath had I ever enjoyed such pleasure before. How curtailed that enjoyment would have been had the presentiment come to me telling me how near it was to being my last plunge, and that before dawn of another day I would be swimming for my life in mid-ocean, under water and on the surface, in a temperature of 28 degrees Fahrenheit!"
