Did you know that the actors ad-lib some of their lines:

The most popular one:

When Jack tells Rose to "lie on the bed er couch", that was really Leonardo's blunder. James Cameron liked it so much, he left it in.

Second:

When Bruce Ismay was embarrased by Rose about the male preocupation of size and was asked if he knew Freud, the actor, Jonathan Hyde, made up the line when he said, "Freud, who is he a passenger?"

Third:

Leonardo changed Jack's line after the dinner scene when he is talking to Rose about leaving. The original line was supposed to be: "Time for my coach to turn back into a pumpkin." The ad lib was "Time for me to go row with the other slaves."

Lovett- (to cameraman) Get that outta my face. Changed to Turn the camera off. Character- older, gruffer. But more of a softy.

When Lewis Abernathy audtioned for the role of Lewis Bodine, he amusingly said Anesthesia instead of Anastasia.

During Gloria Stuarts scenes she never wanted to change a line, except for 'it was me dear. Wasn't I a dish?' Instead of dish it was hot number. Hot number wasn't appropriate.

The Cartmells- The line 'Daddy it's a ship." was an inside refernce joke between James and the crew members. James corrected people a lot of times when they said it's a boat. He told them it's a ship.

Cal- Those mud puddles were certainly a waste of money. An ad lib- "FINGER PAINTINGS"

Jack's big speech about "life's a gift..." was rewritten the night before shooting.

The spit scene where Rose spit into Cal's face. Kate thought it up and it took about 28 times. It was suppose to go a little furthur and have Cal go after her, but that seemed good enough for Cal to be humiliated.

The punch that Tommy gave to the steward when they broke free wasn't planned. Rose was to tell the steward off. James Cameron wanted to change it because Jason gave a powerful performance at the other gate, he wanted him to keep on going.

When Jack and Rose were struggling together to get to the surface the stern wasn't going to be there. When James Cameron was editing the sequence, Billy suggested the ship be in the depths behind them sinking in that shot.
